Families Learning Together

Literacy Program

Families Learning Together is a literacy program designed with the entire family in mind.  Students in the program participate in educational opportunities and curriculum to meet their needs at their learning level.

For Adults, classes and opportunities include:
ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)
Parenting
Local Community Information and Life Skills
US Citizenship Test Preparation
Computer Skills and Practice
Job Readiness Skills
Health Literacy
Healthy Relationships
Financial Literacy
For Children, classes and opportunities include:
Homework Help
Literacy Skill-Building
Pre-Literacy Skill-Building Play
Computer Skills and Practice
Enrichment Activities

For Children and Parents together:
Play Group
Parent and Child Together Activities

How it Works:

Students come to their local Families Learning Together site where they are pre-tested to assess their current level of English language skills (reading and listening).  Volunteers then work with the students one-to-one or in small groups to increase vocabulary, develop better reading and writing abilities, and practice speaking and listening.  Students are tested regularly to assess their advancement.
