Pamela Qualls was born and raised in Indianapolis and is a graduate of the University of Indianapolis, where she earned Bachelor's degrees in Business Administration and Music Performance. After 10 years as a professional musician, she worked in for- and not-for-profit management in marketing, education and training, and volunteer recruitment and coordination. A lifelong Methodist, Pamela has served in a variety of roles in the church: missions, trustees, worship arts, youth leadership, and religious education. She plays the flute in the orchestra at Anona United Methodist Church in Largo, where she and her family are members.
Director, Church and Community Relations: Kitty Carpenter
Kitty Carr Carpenter is a fourth generation native Floridian who grew up in St. Petersburg and Clearwater. She attended St. Petersburg Junior College and Florida Southern College in Lakeland. A life-long United Methodist, she has served on local, district and conference level church boards. Kitty has spent the past 17 years working with United Methodist Connectional Ministries in church relations, development and public relations. She also spent 10 years writing four weekly columns for the Ledger in Polk County and is a freelance writer for the Florida Conference eReview on-line news.
Singing and public speaking are a major portion of Kitty’s ministry. She has traveled the state as a guest soloist and speaker, filling pulpits, serving as a retreat speaker, providing concerts and mission messages. Kitty has two grown daughters and two grandchildren and is a member of Palm Harbor United Methodist Church.
Director, Families Learning Together Literacy Program: Jan Setzekorn
Jan Setzekorn was born and raised in Illinois, received her Bachelor's Degree in Public Health Education from Indiana University and earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Indianapolis. She has worked in various public health agencies and independent K-12 schools. Jan became involved with Cooperative Ministries when she participated in ESOL tutor training in 2001. After volunteering at the former Jasmine Courts Housing Project with ESOL and GED students, she advanced to the role of literacy site coordinator. She became the staff coordinator of Cooperative Ministries' Family Literacy project when it began in 2004, and developed the project into the current Families Learning Together Literacy Program. She is a ProLiteracy America trainer and is the Pinellas County trainer for CASAS Testing Administrators.
Manager, Helping Hands United Programs: Karen Edwards
Karen originates from Laconia, New Hampshire. She had the opportunity to reside in over 6 different states and for 5 years in Europe. She has been a part of the Cooperative Ministries family since 2008 and has found it to be the most rewarding work experience in which she’s been involved. Karen looks forward daily to serving others through Cooperative Ministries.
