P.A.S.S. Tutorial Program
About
P.A.S.S. (Producing Academically Successful Students)Tutorial Program serves elementary students who are at-risk of failing school due to a lack of educational assistance in the home. Four days per week, the students meet to complete their homework under the guidance of a qualified tutor. At the same time, they learn good study skills, time management skills, and initiative to complete their work under their own direction.
After homework is complete, the tutors provide enrichment activities designed to improve each student's reading, writing, and math skills. Weekly visits to the computer lab teach the children important research and computer skills.
P.A.S.S. provides the support necessary to help each child achieve and maintain success in the classroom. The majority of students in P.A.S.S. earn a "B" average or better, and no child earns lower than a "C" average.

Additional Services
Supplemental Educational Services (SES)
Many of the P.A.S.S. students receive additional private or small group academic tutoring under the No Child Left Behind Act. Through a coordination of efforts with two providers, ACES Tutoring and All About Achievement, tutors come to our site at First United Methodist Church of Dunedin for one hour, two times per week for 11 weeks. Children may be eligible for the program if the attend a Title I school that has been identified as a school in need of improvement, and if they qualify for free or reduced lunch.
Summer Learning Camp
Students of P.A.S.S. may participate in a six-week summer learning camp each June and July. Studies show that students who do not participate in enrichment activities over the summer fall 6 months behind their classmates in learning each year. To learn more, click here.
